The design of H168 House began with the owner's deep connection to China — both personally and professionally — and his appreciation for the purity of materials. Our collective memory of traditional Chinese architecture is often tied to the tactile presence of dark grey bricks, selected here as the primary material and imported directly from China. In parallel, classical Chinese architectural paintings were studied to distill spatial characteristics. These traditional elements were then abstracted, simplified, and reinterpreted to suit the functional needs of the home
